In USI’s exhibition game at Tennessee, the officials whistled only 38 fouls, 19 for each team. But it seemed like much more than that. I guess it was mostly USI’s 17 turnovers. Anyway, it looked like both teams settled down fairly early and kept their hands off each other for the majority of the game. Still, the hand-check rule was rigorously enforced all over the court, not just around the 10-second line when the guards went one-on-one. Drive into the paint and there’s any bumping, TWEEEEET! Players are already starting to back off to avoid fouls. If that continues, scores will most definitely climb.
