Ahead of USI’s men’s basketball game at Indianapolis (tipoff is scheduled for 6:45 CST tonight on ESPN 106.7 FM), Kenyon Smith had his own ideas what the Eagles’ guards need to do better in the wake of the back-to-back losses last week. One was rebounding. “We need to rebound more on the offensive end,” he said. “We’re kind of watching (center) Keith (DeWitt) too much.” Another concern is catching passes from teammates and positioning on offense. “We’ve got to fight for catches,” said Smith, “and keep teams from pushing us out to the (team) logos (out on the floor). We’ve got to demand the ball.”
On defense: “When they (opponents) catch the ball we need to get a hand in their face. We’ve got to get them out of their comfort zone. And when they drive we need to take a big step instead of a false step and get beat.”
We’ll see if any of that comes to pass against UIndy.
