My latest column on USI men’s basketball is here. An additional comment: coach Rodney Watson never, ever appears to be worried after his team has looked awful in a game, whether it’s for all 40 minutes or just a few of them. Now, in practice, he can get pretty intense. He’ll remind his players what they did wrong in the last game or games, citing chapter and verse, and describe what will happen to them in the next game if they continue to screw up. But he doesn’t seem to be a person who dwells on bad things or frets over them. Of course, he wouldn’t come right out and tell that to me, a member of the heathen media (no, he wouldn’t call me that, but I know a lot of people who would), and it’s possible I’m reading him all wrong. But he may be the most positive coach — and I mean this in the best possible sense — I have ever encountered.
