Only two Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s basketball teams are undefeated. One of them is the University of Indianapolis. The other is … USI. Yes, the Eagles are the only other GLVC team without a loss, at 7-0 (UIndy is 6-0). Other top teams are Bellarmine, now led by former USI coach Chancellor Dugan, at 5-1, Lewis (5-1) and Wisconsin-Parkside (4-1).
Go to the stats and USI is just as impressive. It leads the league in scoring average (84.1 points per game) while UIndy is seventh (70.7). The Eagles also lead in scoring margin, at 30.9 points; in field-goal percentage (.481); and in rebounding offense (46.1). They rank second, behind UIndy, in another important category, field-goal percentage defense (.291).
One more stat: Junior shooting guard Stephanie Carpenter leads the league in 3-pointers made (20) and average 3-pointers made per game (2.9).
