A quick look at USI’s latest men’s basketball stats turns up something surprising: Manny Ogunfolu is the second-best rebounder on the team. Well, maybe that’s not so surprising. He is, after all, 6-foot-7. But he has been coming off the bench, yet he’s averaging 6.6 rebounds. The only player better is starting forward/post Aaron Nelson, at 8.6 per game. In third place? Taylor Wischmeier at 6.0. (Keith DeWitt had six boards in his first game, the team’s opener, but hasn’t played since because of his knee surgery.)
Speaking of rebounds, USI is outrebounding the opposition by an average of 15.8 — 45.2 rebounds to opponents’ 29.4. No wonder the Eagles are 5-0.
