South Spencer’s 7-run 7th stuns Titans

Hannah Epperson’s two-run double highlighted a seven-run seventh as visiting South Spencer snapped a scoreless tie to beat Pocket Athletic Conference rival Gibson Southern, 7-0, in a regular season softball showdown of epic proportions on Thursday night.
“We faced a really good pitcher (Jaime Nurrenbern) and it took a while to make adjustments,” said Rebels coach Tara Compton. “We saw her a couple of times and were finally able to get something rolling toward the end of the game.”
Kaylea Horn fired a three-hitter for Class 2A No. 1-ranked South Spencer (10-0, 3-0). The Rebels avenged a 3-2 9-inning loss to Gibson Southern last year. The 3A No. 2-ranked Titans are 11-3, 2-2.
Gibson Southern went on to win the PAC title last season and finished as 3A state runners-up. South Spencer went on to win the 2A state championship.
