Castle-Central game could be high-scoring

WEEK FIVE

CASTLE (2-2, 1-1) at CENTRAL (3-1, 1-1), 7 p.m., Friday
Whoever picks up the pieces after a tough loss will prove to be the winner. After blanking Reitz, Castle was stunned 40-33 by Bosse. It marked the Knights’ first loss to Bosse since 2006 and first SIAC loss since Memorial in 2010, which snapped a 15-game league winning streak. Central, on the other hand, was pounded 48-28 by Reitz after a 3-0 start. The Bears are averaging 51.2 points, but surrendering 41.0, so look for another high-scoring affair.

Prediction: Castle 42, Central 35

BOSSE (2-2, 1-1) vs. MEMORIAL (1-3, 1-1), 7 p.m. Friday, Enlow Field
High-scoring Bulldogs are riding high after their first win over Castle since 2006. This is a rivalry game like week 9, with Bosse and Memorial located about 4 blocks away from each other and teams sharing same stadium. Tigers led Mater Dei 13-7 early in the third quarter, but couldn’t hold on. Look for Bosse’s big plays to prove too much for their East Side rival.

Prediction: Bosse 31, Memorial 27

NORTH (2-2, 1-1) vs. MATER DEI (4-0, 2-0), 7 p.m. Friday, Reitz Bowl
On paper, this looks like a mismatch, but not much has gone according to form this season, except for the Wildcats continuing to win. They are ranked No. 1 in Class 2A AP poll, but I rated them No. 3, behind Lafayette Central Catholic and Indy Cardinal Ritter.

Prediction: Mater Dei 35, North 21

REITZ (2-2, 1-1) at HARRISON (1-2, 0-2), 7 p.m. Friday
After being shut out by Castle, Reitz responded with a decisive 20-point win over previously undefeated Central. Look for the Panthers to vault over .500, but Harrison is no longer a pushover. Just ask North, which struggled to beat Warriors 16-13.

Prediction: Reitz 42, Harrison 28

Last week: 2-2.
Overall: 16-7

  1. Man, am I feeling down this week. I finally got my Rascal back from the shop and it was looking SWEET! The hydraulics and neon lighting are awesome and give me tons of street cred. However, I was rolling that bad boy down Franklin Street (you know, getting the lay of the land for my Mecca, the Fall Festival), and I dropped the hydraulics when this honey in a basic Rascal model was rolling past. Well, I must have not made the proper calculations, and I lowered the pimp ride, only to rip my neon right off of my baby! So, I took it to the shop and they told me that there is no way to have it ready in time for the Fall Festival. WHAT AM I…A COMMONER?? I have go to have the Rascal in Prime condition to insure the ladies see me rollin’. I did what I had to do! I promised them 2 Full SSI checks if they can get it done in time…They have accepted my bribe…now can they come through?

    Uhhhhhhh……Bosse? Uhhhh…..Reitz?
I have no Gods Honest idea which team can rebound from the embarrassment that was last Friday night. I’m just going to pick out of a hat.
First number is 2…second number is 7….So one team has 27.
    Next number is 1….followed by 9….so 19.
And the winner is…The Honey BooBoos!

Where in the world did the BooDawgs come from last week? They were running all over the place and just made the Squires look pedestrian…The Tiggers looked good early, but couldn’t hold it against the KittyKats. As Gordy says, this is a rivalry game (although no one cares about it being a rivalry game not even, the participants so they play it in week 5), and the BooDawgs want to keep that momentum going. HOWEVER, the BooDawgs don’t really handle success well, and I smell a huge letdown.

The Fat Dogs have not looked good the last few weeks. The KittyKats just keep winning. I know there are those that have some concerns with the Councilman’s squad, but they always seem to get it done. Also, as much as I originally liked the nickname of the Fat Dogs, it’s not staying with me like the Fonzi’s did. I need to work on this one. If you have suggestions, please let me know.

The RHS Boys rebounded nicely last week by proving to Central, that you do in fact need a Defense to play football. The Injuns are still terrible. I know, I know, they almost beat North…I will say it again…The Injuns are TERRIBLE.
But Reitz isn’t very good either, and the lil Injuns do want to try and show those mean ol Westsiders that they got the better coach out of the deal. Albeit, they got the coach that didn’t want them and wanted to stay on the Hill and try and fix that mess…
    UPSET ALERT!!!!!
