Otters re-sign lefthander Matt Zielinski

Lefthander Matt Zielinski has re-signed with the Evansville Otters.

He posted a 7-7 record last year, his second with the Otters, and a 3.96 earned run average.

“Matt was a very consistent starter for us last year, giving us a lot of quality starts and eating a lot of innings,” said Evansville manager Andy McCauley. “We are hoping he can build in the quality performances he gave us the last two seasons.”

Zielinski, who has a 3.77 career ERA, said he is excited to return to the Otters.

“We have a great group of guys coming back and we are looking to get a lot of wins for the great fans,” he said.

About Gordon Engelhardt

Many moons ago, I was a semipro baseball pitcher and my love for the grand old game continues unabated. I was lucky enough to cover the White Sox in the 1983 ALCS and the Cubbies in the 1984 NLCS while living in northern Illinois. I have covered several Cardinals games, but never in postseason.
