Otters re-sign Parache, trade for Willinsky

Infielder Luis Parache and right-handed pitcher Mark Willinsky have returned to the Evansville Otters.

Joining Evansville last June, Parache led the team in stolen bases with 24. He batted .250 with four home runs and 25 runs batted in.

“Luis can play all three infield positions and is a tough out at the plate,” said Otters manager Andy McCauley. “Luis had a great year stealing bases for us last year and we are excited to have him back.”

Willinsky joins Evansville to complete a previous trade with the San Angelo Colts of the United League. He had a 0.71 earned run average as a reliever for the Otters in 12 appearances in 2011. He posted a 9-6 record with a 4.36 ERA last year for San Angelo.

About Gordon Engelhardt

Many moons ago, I was a semipro baseball pitcher and my love for the grand old game continues unabated. I was lucky enough to cover the White Sox in the 1983 ALCS and the Cubbies in the 1984 NLCS while living in northern Illinois. I have covered several Cardinals games, but never in postseason.
