The Evansville Otters have landed a pair of players with experience in affiliated organizations.
Nik Blalog, a first baseman who played each of the last two years in the Baltimore Orioles’ organization, hit .266 with three home runs and 32 runs batted in for Delmarva (Class A) last season.
“He is coming offf a very down year with the Orioles,” Otters manager Andy McCauley said in a written statement. “Nik should be a consistent RBI guy for us in the middle of the lineup.”
He totaled 18 homers and 128 RBIs in four collegiate seasons at the University of San Francisco.
Catcher Ryan McChesney, who played the past two years in the Tampa Bay Rays’ organization, also joins the Otters. He played for Hudson Valley (Class A) and Charlotte (“high A”) last year.
“Ryan should vie for starting catcher duties,” McCauley said. “He had a great career at Florida Tech and should prove to add some offensive punch to our lineup.”
McChesney had a career average of .341 at Florida Tech with 21 homers and 161 RBIs.
