Otters land former triple-A pitcher

The Evansville Otters’ pitching staff received a shot in the arm when it signed former triple-A veteran Zach Petersime, a native of Greenwood, Ind.

A right-hander, Petersime pitched for the Baltimore Orioles’ organization, reaching triple-A Norfolk last season. He also pitched for Norfolk in 2012.

“Zach will be a top of the rotation starter for us,” stated Otters manager Andy McCauley. “He has pitched at higher levels in the Orioles’ organization. We hope he can continue his success with the Otters an get a chance to return to organized baseball.”

A 45th round pick of the Orioles in the 2008 Major League Baseball amateur draft, Petersime is a five-year minor league veteran.

“I’m looking forward to playing close to home,” he said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity the Otters have given me in continuing the case to the big league dream.”

About Gordon Engelhardt

Many moons ago, I was a semipro baseball pitcher and my love for the grand old game continues unabated. I was lucky enough to cover the White Sox in the 1983 ALCS and the Cubbies in the 1984 NLCS while living in northern Illinois. I have covered several Cardinals games, but never in postseason.
