The hubby and me — a la “My Best Friend’s Wedding — planned our honeymoon around a sports calendar. So although we married in March we weren’t able to get away until there was a break in local sports (he was a sports reporter at the time.)
So here’s a few pictures from our week-long stay in New Orleans. We had a great time and did tons beyond the stereotypical Bourbon Street madness.
This was the lovely apartment-style hotel we stayed at courtesy of my parents right by the French Market and on Esplanade.
I might have overpacked a little. It was seven nights!
NOLA street views are unlike any other.
I took dozens of pictures of doors and shutters.
Need a gator head? :/
French Market shopping was always colorful.
No trip would be complete without a random spotting like this one.
Crawfish and Louisiana beer at a jazz club on Frenchman.
Praline bacon, pastrami and sweet potato fries at Elizabeths.
Delicious drinks galore.
Of course there were stops at Cafe du Monde for beignets and cafe au laits. MMM!
There were plenty of street performers.
We picniced at the sculpture gardens.
And then later smooched too.
It seems morbid, but we did stop by a graveyard or two.
They were filled with beautiful statues.
We took the ferry to Algiers for an afternoon of wandering.
We had this done on Jackson Square on our way out of town. It’s still hanging in our house.
