After a busy holiday weekend I find myself settling down around 9 p.m. Sunday thinking, “Do things ever slow down?”
And I think the answer is, “No, unless you stop for a second.”
My husband, who has lived nearly his entire life in Louisiana, has a completely different pace than me. I’m constantly rushing him along. At the grocery store I’m usually an aisle ahead and on walks if I don’t stop or slow down Miles and I might be a block ahead.
Over the holiday we went to Vincennes to visit and stay with my mom. We had a great time spending part of the holiday with friends and attending the parade and fireworks. I returned to Evansville Saturday afternoon and worked Sunday.
I love having things to do with the munchkin — making memories with eventful outings like the zoo, Burdette Park or fairs. But I’m thinking I need to schedule in some down time too. Some time where we can just “be.” I will have to practices my “just say ‘no’” technique and turn down some opportunities so we can all slow down a little.
Anyone else out there have a hard time slowing things down? What are your strategies for taking a few steps back?
