Thankfully these days my little guy sleeps through the night (with very limited exceptions.) Last night was one of those exceptions.
Around 2:30 a.m. I hear him start to cry over the monitor, something he doesn’t typically do when he wakes up so I rush into his room to find him starting to throw up. I’m not going to be one of those people and describe anything to you, puke is puke and it is all gross.
I pick him up and rush to the nearby bathroom as he continues.
Then he’s done, smiling and saying, “Uh oh,” to the mess all over him and me and around us. He’s not a bit upset.
We get everything cleaned up and he seems WIDE AWAKE!
Earlier in the night (around 1:30 a.m.) I had woken up with a nightmare (I had fallen asleep to a “true life crime drama” TV show, my typical fare) about a grisly death and was just drifting off to sleep to “The Lorax” when all of this started. So Miles climbed in bed with me, I turned the Netflix to “Curious George” thinking he’d be out like a light any minute.
About 10 minutes later Miles started to cry and clung on to me. Yep, he puked again; all over me. We ran back to the bathroom, had our second wardrobe change of the night and got everything and everyone cleaned up.
Again, no fussing as soon as he was done. Just an innocent, “Uh oh” looking at the icky, icky mess.
A couple of loads of laundry and some sheet changes later (and around 4:30 this morning) Miles was sound asleep. I felt comfortable that the pukies had left the house and finally started to drift away.
“Uh oh,” instead of puking and crying keeping me up my hubby snoring was. After tossing and turning and elbowing the offending party to no avail I moved to the couch for about 2 hours of sleep until Miles was up and at ‘em this morning like nothing had ever happened.
Fingers crossed, it seems to be a quick bout with the sickies at my house. How do you handle middle of the night sickness with your little ones? Any quick sheet tricks of the trade other parents out there want to share?
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to take a nap on my desk!
