I’m sorry for the absence! An extended family member had a bit of a medical scare so I was out of commission a few days to help out in any way I could. Thankfully everything seems to be going much better and hope it stays that way.
I took my own little family to Holiday World Sunday for our company picnic there. SO MUCH FUN!
I hadn’t been in about a decade; many things had changed, including the kind of rides I found myself on. We made the decision to go to the water park first (perhaps not the best as it started out a little cool and rainy). I just thought that Miles would be the most awake in the morning and sleepy in the afternoon. Even with the cool, we splashed around in the kiddie splash pad area with the mini slides. Miles seemed to enjoy himself.
When the rain really started to pour down we got changed and ran for the picnic area to enjoy lunch with coworkers.
Then we explored the rest of the park. After lunch is Miles’ typical naptime so we were living on borrowed time here. But we found the choo-choo and all was good. We rode that about 54 times (closer to five, but enough for me to memorize the nursery rhyme shtick). We explored “holidog’s fun town” but Miles did find it all that fun.
We did a couple rounds on the antique cars and then, with Miles still awake, we made our way to Thanksgiving, land of the terrifying giant log flume (pioneer plunge/girafica) that we didn’t ride and the gleeful Voyage (that we also didn’t ride). But it is also where the AWESOME gobbler getaway is. We rode that countless times (again, probably only five, but it was fun!)
Miles didn’t get into the target practice like his daddy and me did but we had fun. It was a little competitive (I won!) but we had a great time on it and it made Miles smile.
We traipsed up and down those hills from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a wide awake and happy little dude. The crankies came as we were leaving, stopping to take the traditional picture by Santa.
Fun times with the fam!
