I’m throwing it back to the early 2000s. I accepted a job in Dothan, Ala., (my first newspaper job post Peace Corps) never having been to the state, other than for my job interview. I knew no one. But coworkers Christie (aka Critty) and Jill instantly became great friends. They made me feel so welcomed and accepted and even supported and helped care for me after a serious surgery bringing me yummy food and sleeping on the hospital floor so we could have a “slumber” party.
Just few months after I moved there Critty moved into the other half of the duplex I was in bonding us even more. I have stayed friends with these two women all these years, both even making the trek to Louisiana for my wedding in 2010. I wished we could see and talk more but life and distance makes that tough.
I’m a lucky gal that in all of my moves across the U.S. I’ve made some amazing friends — with this beautiful lady being one of them!
Happy birthday Critty!
